My artwork is an investigation of the relationships we hold with the spaces we inhabit. With oil painting and poetry, I work to create an emotionally driven narrative that connects the viewer to scenes of city life and nature in the Greater Victoria Area.My depiction of the human form is purposefully vague and abstract, allowing the viewer to place themselves within the narrative regardless of gender or race.To depict the brutalism and beauty of city architecture I lean into the clash of wet paint and bold lines that carve into the paint. In nature I find softness with large abstract brushwork. In all aspects of my work I choose bold colors to set light and mood.I treat my poetry as an emotional anchor point for my paintings. Poetry leaves room for interpretation.
